Chapter 28

oye de sabbatwn th epifwskoush eiV mian sabbatwn hlqen maria h magdalhnh kai h allh maria qewrhsai ton tafon
28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first [day] of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

kai idou seismoV egeneto megaV aggeloV gar kuriou katabaV ex ouranou proselqwn apekulisen ton liqon apo thV quraV kai ekaqhto epanw autou
28:2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

hn de h idea autou wV astraph kai to enduma autou leukon wsei ciwn
28:3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

apo de tou fobou autou eseisqhsan oi throunteV kai egenonto wsei nekroi
28:4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead [men].

apokriqeiV de o aggeloV eipen taiV gunaixin mh fobeisqe umeiV oida gar oti ihsoun ton estaurwmenon zhteite
28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

ouk estin wde hgerqh gar kaqwV eipen deute idete ton topon opou ekeito o kurioV
28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

kai tacu poreuqeisai eipate toiV maqhtaiV autou oti hgerqh apo twn nekrwn kai idou proagei umaV eiV thn galilaian ekei auton oyesqe idou eipon umin
28:7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

kai exelqousai tacu apo tou mnhmeiou meta fobou kai caraV megalhV edramon apaggeilai toiV maqhtaiV autou
28:8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

wV de eporeuonto apaggeilai toiV maqhtaiV autou kai idou o ihsouV aphnthsen autaiV legwn cairete ai de proselqousai ekrathsan autou touV podaV kai prosekunhsan autw
28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

tote legei autaiV o ihsouV mh fobeisqe upagete apaggeilate toiV adelfoiV mou ina apelqwsin eiV thn galilaian kakei me oyontai
28:10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

poreuomenwn de autwn idou tineV thV koustwdiaV elqonteV eiV thn polin aphggeilan toiV arciereusin apanta ta genomena
28:11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.

kai sunacqenteV meta twn presbuterwn sumboulion te labonteV arguria ikana edwkan toiV stratiwtaiV
28:12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,

legonteV eipate oti oi maqhtai autou nuktoV elqonteV ekleyan auton hmwn koimwmenwn
28:13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him [away] while we slept.

kai ean akousqh touto epi tou hgemonoV hmeiV peisomen auton kai umaV amerimnouV poihsomen
28:14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.

15

oi de labonteV ta arguria epoihsan wV edidacqhsan kai diefhmisqh o logoV outoV para ioudaioiV mecri thV shmeron
28:15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

oi de endeka maqhtai eporeuqhsan eiV thn galilaian eiV to oroV ou etaxato autoiV o ihsouV
28:16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

kai idonteV auton prosekunhsan autw oi de edistasan
28:17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

18

kai proselqwn o ihsouV elalhsen autoiV legwn edoqh moi pasa exousia en ouranw kai epi ghV
28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19

poreuqenteV oun maqhteusate panta ta eqnh baptizonteV autouV eiV to onoma tou patroV kai tou uiou kai tou agiou pneumatoV
28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20

didaskonteV autouV threin panta osa eneteilamhn umin kai idou egw meq umwn eimi pasaV taV hmeraV ewV thV sunteleiaV tou aiwnoV amhn
28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.
