The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel

Chapter 28

1

The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,2

2

Son of man, say3 unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith1 the Lord GOD; Because thine heart [is] lifted up,1 and thou hast said,4 I [am] a God, I sit1 [in] the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou [art] a man, and not God, though thou set4 thine heart as the heart of God:

3

Behold, thou [art] wiser than Daniel; there is no secret7 that they can hide1 from thee:

4

With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten1 thee riches, and hast gotten4 gold and silver into thy treasures:

5

By thy great wisdom [and] by thy traffick hast thou increased52 thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up4 because of thy riches:

6

Therefore thus saith1 the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set2 thine heart as the heart of God;

7

Behold, therefore I will bring56 strangers5 upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw52 their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile14 thy brightness.

8

They shall bring thee down55 to the pit, and thou shalt die1 the deaths of [them that are] slain in the midst of the seas.

9

Wilt thou yet2 say4 before him that slayeth6 thee, I [am] God? but thou [shalt be] a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth18 thee.

10

Thou shalt die4 the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers:5 for I have spoken14 [it], saith7 the Lord GOD.

11

Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,2

12

Son of man, take up3 a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say1 unto him, Thus saith1 the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up6 the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

13

Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone [was] thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared49 in thee in the day that thou wast created.9

14

Thou [art] the anointed cherub that covereth;6 and I have set1 thee [so]: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down98 in the midst of the stones of fire.

15

Thou [wast] perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created,9 till iniquity was found8 in thee.

16

By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled1 the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned:4 therefore I will cast thee as profane17 out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy17 thee, O covering6 cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

17

Thine heart was lifted up1 because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted14 thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast52 thee to the ground, I will lay1 thee before kings, that they may behold2 thee.

18

Thou hast defiled14 thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth55 a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour1 thee, and I will bring4 thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold6 thee.

19

All they that know6 thee among the people shall be astonished1 at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never [shalt] thou [be] any more. 5769

20

Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,2

21

Son of man, set3 thy face against Zidon, and prophesy10 against it,

22

And say,1 Thus saith1 the Lord GOD; Behold, I [am] against thee, O Zidon; and I will be glorified8 in the midst of thee: and they shall know1 that I [am] the LORD, when I shall have executed2 judgments in her, and shall be sanctified8 in her.

23

For I will send14 into her pestilence, and blood into her streets; and the wounded shall be judged40 in the midst of her by the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know1 that I [am] the LORD.

24

And there shall be no more a pricking56 brier unto the house of Israel, nor [any] grieving56 thorn of all [that are] round about them, that despised5 them; and they shall know1 that I [am] the Lord GOD.

25

Thus saith1 the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered15 the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered,8 and shall be sanctified8 in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell1 in their land that I have given1 to my servant Jacob.

26

And they shall dwell1 safely therein, and shall build1 houses, and plant1 vineyards; yea, they shall dwell1 with confidence, when I have executed2 judgments upon all those that despise5 them round about them; and they shall know1 that I [am] the LORD their God.
