Ezekiel 8 | King James Bible |
Chapter 9 | |
| He cried4 also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying,2 Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near,1 even every man [with] his destroying weapon in his hand. |
| And, behold, six men came6 from the way of the higher gate, which lieth94 toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them [was] clothed7 with linen, with a writer's6 inkhorn by his side: and they went in,4 and stood4 beside the brasen altar. |
| And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up8 from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And he called4 to the man clothed7 with linen, which [had] the writer's6 inkhorn by his side; |
| And the LORD said4 unto him, Go through3 the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set52 a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh12 and that cry12 for all the abominations that be done12 in the midst thereof. |
| And to the others he said1 in mine hearing, Go3 ye after him through the city, and smite:54 let not your eye spare,4 neither have ye pity:4 |
| Slay4 utterly old [and] young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near4 any man upon whom [is] the mark; and begin55 at my sanctuary. Then they began55 at the ancient men which [were] before the house. |
| And he said4 unto them, Defile16 the house, and fill16 the courts with the slain: go ye forth.3 And they went forth,1 and slew52 in the city. |
| And it came to pass, while they were slaying53 them, and I was left,12 that I fell4 upon my face, and cried,4 and said,4 Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou destroy56 all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out2 of thy fury upon Jerusalem? |
| Then said4 he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah [is] exceeding 3966 great, and the land is full11 of blood, and the city full1 of perverseness: for they say,1 The LORD hath forsaken1 the earth, and the LORD seeth6 not. |
| And as for me also, mine eye shall not spare,4 neither will I have pity,4 [but] I will recompense1 their way upon their head. |
| And, behold, the man clothed7 with linen, which [had] the inkhorn by his side, reported56 the matter, saying,2 I have done1 as thou hast commanded14 me. |
