Jeremiah 14 | King James Bible |
Chapter 15 | |
| Then said4 the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood4 before me, [yet] my mind [could] not [be] toward this people: cast [them] out16 of my sight, and let them go forth.4 |
| And it shall come to pass, if they say4 unto thee, Whither shall we go forth?4 then thou shalt tell1 them, Thus saith1 the LORD; Such as [are] for death, to death; and such as [are] for the sword, to the sword; and such as [are] for the famine, to the famine; and such as [are] for the captivity, to the captivity. |
| And I will appoint1 over them four kinds, saith7 the LORD: the sword to slay,2 and the dogs to tear,2 and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour2 and destroy.53 |
| And I will cause1 them to be removed 2113 into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for [that] which he did1 in Jerusalem. |
| For who shall have pity4 upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan4 thee? or who shall go aside4 to ask2 how thou doest? |
| Thou hast forsaken1 me, saith7 the LORD, thou art gone4 backward: therefore will I stretch out55 my hand against thee, and destroy55 thee; I am weary8 with repenting.9 |
| And I will fan4 them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave [them] of children,14 I will destroy14 my people, [since] they return1 not from their ways. |
| Their widows are increased1 to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought52 upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler6 at noonday: I have caused [him] to fall52 upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city. |
| She that hath borne6 seven languisheth:49 she hath given up1 the ghost; her sun is gone down1 while [it was] yet day: 3117 she hath been ashamed1 and confounded:1 and the residue of them will I deliver4 to the sword before their enemies,6 saith7 the LORD. |
| Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne1 me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury,1 nor men have lent to me on usury;1 [yet] every one of them doth curse18 me. |
| The LORD said,1 Verily 518 it shall be well with thy remnant;14 8293 verily I will cause the enemy6 to entreat52 thee [well] in the time of evil and in the time of affliction. |
| |
| Thy substance and thy treasures will I give4 to the spoil without price, and [that] for all thy sins, even in all thy borders. |
| And I will make [thee] to pass52 with thine enemies6 into a land [which] thou knowest1 not: for a fire is kindled1 in mine anger, [which] shall burn93 upon you. |
| O LORD, thou knowest:1 remember3 me, and visit3 me, and revenge10 me of my persecutors;6 take me not away4 in thy longsuffering: 750 know3 that for thy sake I have suffered2 rebuke. |
| Thy words were found,8 and I did eat4 them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called8 by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. |
| I sat1 not in the assembly of the mockers,18 nor rejoiced;4 I sat1 alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled14 me with indignation. |
| Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable,7 [which] refuseth14 to be healed?9 wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, [and as] waters [that] fail?8 |
| Therefore thus saith1 the LORD, If thou return,4 then will I bring thee again,55 [and] thou shalt stand4 before me: and if thou take forth55 the precious from the vile,6 thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return4 unto thee; but return4 not thou unto them. |
| And I will make1 thee unto this people a fenced7 brasen wall: and they shall fight8 against thee, but they shall not prevail4 against thee: for I [am] with thee to save53 thee and to deliver53 thee, saith7 the LORD. |
| And I will deliver52 thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem1 thee out of the hand of the terrible. |
