Isaiah 19 | King James Bible |
Chapter 20 | |
1 | In the year that Tartan came2 unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent2 him,) and fought11 against Ashdod, and took4 it; |
2 | At the same time spake14 the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying,2 Go3 and loose14 the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off4 thy shoe from thy foot. And he did4 so, walking2 naked and barefoot. |
3 | And the LORD said,4 Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked1 naked and barefoot three years [for] a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia; |
4 | So shall the king of Assyria lead away4 the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with [their] buttocks uncovered,7 to the shame of Egypt. |
5 | And they shall be afraid1 and ashamed1 of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory. |
6 | And the inhabitant6 of this isle shall say1 in that day, Behold, such [is] our expectation, whither we flee1 for help to be delivered9 from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?11 |
