Proverbs 18 | King James Bible |
Chapter 19 | |
| Better [is] the poor6 that walketh6 in his integrity, than [he that is] perverse in his lips, and is a fool. |
| Also, [that] the soul [be] without knowledge, [it is] not good; and he that hasteth5 with [his] feet sinneth.6 |
| The foolishness of man perverteth17 his way: and his heart fretteth4 against the LORD. |
| Wealth maketh55 many friends; but the poor is separated11 from his neighbour. |
| A false witness shall not be unpunished,11 and [he that] speaketh55 lies shall not escape.11 |
| Many will intreat17 the favour of the prince: and every man [is] a friend to him that giveth gifts. |
| All the brethren of the poor6 do hate1 him: how much more do his friends go far1 from him? he pursueth18 [them with] words, [yet] they [are] wanting [to him]. |
| He that getteth6 wisdom loveth6 his own soul: he that keepeth6 understanding shall find2 good. |
| A false witness shall not be unpunished,11 and [he that] speaketh55 lies shall perish.4 |
| Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule2 over princes. |
| The discretion of a man deferreth52 his anger; and [it is] his glory to pass2 over a transgression. |
| The king's wrath [is] as the roaring of a lion; but his favour [is] as dew upon the grass. |
| A foolish son [is] the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife [are] a continual6 dropping. |
| House and riches [are] the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent56 wife [is] from the LORD. |
| Slothfulness casteth55 into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.4 |
| He that keepeth6 the commandment keepeth6 his own soul; [but] he that despiseth6 his ways shall die.4 |
| He that hath pity6 upon the poor lendeth56 unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay17 him again. |
| Chasten16 thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare4 for his crying.53 |
| A man of great 1632 wrath shall suffer6 punishment: for if thou deliver55 [him], yet thou must do it again.55 |
| Hear3 counsel, and receive16 instruction, that thou mayest be wise4 in thy latter end. |
| [There are] many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.4 |
| The desire of a man [is] his kindness: and a poor6 man [is] better than a liar. |
| The fear of the LORD [tendeth] to life: and [he that hath it] shall abide4 satisfied; he shall not be visited11 with evil. |
| A slothful [man] hideth1 his hand in [his] bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.55 |
| Smite55 a scorner,5 and the simple will beware:55 and reprove52 one that hath understanding,12 [and] he will understand4 knowledge. |
| He that wasteth18 [his] father, [and] chaseth away55 [his] mother, [is] a son that causeth shame,56 and bringeth reproach.56 |
| Cease,3 my son, to hear2 the instruction [that causeth] to err2 from the words of knowledge. |
| An ungodly witness scorneth55 judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth17 iniquity. |
| Judgments are prepared8 for scorners,5 and stripes for the back of fools. |
