Psalms 37 | King James Bible |
Chapter 38 | |
| A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance. |
| For thine arrows stick fast8 in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.4 |
| [There is] no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither [is there any] rest in my bones because of my sin. |
| For mine iniquities are gone over1 mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy4 for me. |
| My wounds stink52 [and] are corrupt8 because of my foolishness. |
| I am troubled;8 I am bowed down1 greatly; I go14 mourning6 all the day long. |
| For my loins are filled1 with a loathsome12 [disease]: and [there is] no soundness in my flesh. |
| I am feeble8 and sore broken:8 I have roared1 by reason of the disquietness of my heart. |
| Lord, all my desire [is] before thee; and my groaning is not hid8 from thee. |
| My heart panteth,43 my strength faileth1 me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me. |
| My lovers6 and my friends stand4 aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand1 afar off. |
| They also that seek18 after my life lay snares17 [for me]: and they that seek6 my hurt speak14 mischievous things, and imagine4 deceits all the day long. |
| But I, as a deaf [man], heard4 not; and [I was] as a dumb man [that] openeth4 not his mouth. |
| Thus I was as a man that heareth6 not, and in whose mouth [are] no reproofs. |
| For in thee, O LORD, do I hope:52 thou wilt hear,4 O Lord my God. |
| For I said,1 [Hear me], lest [otherwise] they should rejoice4 over me: when my foot slippeth,2 they magnify52 [themselves] against me. |
| For I [am] ready12 to halt, and my sorrow [is] continually before me. |
| For I will declare55 mine iniquity; I will be sorry4 for my sin. |
| But mine enemies6 [are] lively, [and] they are strong:1 and they that hate6 me wrongfully are multiplied.1 |
| They also that render18 evil for good are mine adversaries;4 because I follow2 [the thing that] good [is]. |
| |
| Make haste3 to help me, O Lord my salvation. |
